The Forgotten Realms: Winter in Artisans

It was daytime in the Artisan realm, however, the sky was heavily cloudy, accompanied by the cold air of winter. A white blanket of snow covers the entire realm of Artisans, as frost had crawled their way atop of the castles' rooftops and trees around the meadows. A fiery phoenix flew through the cold sky as Flarea was making her way back to the Artisan Temple, having done a special errand for her dragon friends. The young phoenix soared gracefully across the air, her fiery body standing out of the dull, cold weather.

On the ground, outside the temple, Grayson and Ami were looking at the landscape, pondering about how different it is in the spring and in the winter. Suddenly, a cry from the air caused both Ami and Grayson to look up to the sky, seeing Flarea ready to land. Ami widened her eyes and quickly ducked her body to the ground just in time, narrowly being hit by Flarea as she accidentally swooped down at the little Artisan dragon, her feet poised to land. However, the young phoenix slid on the snow and was unable stop herself from colliding into the wall of the temple, slamming herselg hard against the granite. She moaned softly as she slid back onto the snow, dazed and disoriented.

Grayson muttered to Ami while looking at Flarea, "Lands like a stone, doesn't she?"

Flarea furiously spat out the snow she had in her beak from the crash, glaring at t he wall. "Nice weather huh?!" She said angrily, then a clumb of snow fell from the crevices of the temple's rooftop and splattered onto the young phoenix's head, much to her displeasure...

Inside of the main chambers, Spyro, Flame, Ember, along with their fairy friend, Daisy, were looking at a small load of food they have in the storage for the Christmas Eve feast. From varities of fruit to different kinds of meat, the feast would satisfy the dragons as well as other creatures. However, there was a problem...

"How can we make a feast out of these leftovers?" Flame asked, displeased at the small amount of food that laid before him.

Ember turned to the red dragon and responded, "We're lucky to have any food at all, Flame. I heard that lot of the other creatures are going hungry this year."

"We will too, if the weather doesn't break soon." Spyro spoke out, turning his head to his three friends.

Daisy muttered sadly, before looking up to her friends. "Hard times ahead for sure."

Ember moaned, "Maybe we should...cancel the feast."

Spyro was disheartened at the thought of it, but with the amount of food there was no other option. "Maybe we should..." He responded sadly, before standing up and walking out of the room.

Ember and Flame followed the purple dragon, as Daisy was left in the storage, still in disbelief of the low food supply.

Inside the main hall, the other dragons: Ignitus, Cosmos, Cynder, Coltrane, Bruce, Halvor, Moira, Rikki, and Ruby were conversing to each other and setting up decorations for the feast. Rikki and Ruby noticed Spyro, Flame, and Ember emerging out of the food storage and ran over to Spyro eagerly, eventually standing before them.

"We're going to gather some hollows for the feast. Wanna come?" Rikki asked.

"Uh, no thanks, Rikki." Flame replied sheepishly.

Ruby started jumping up and down eagerly, smiling, "Christmas Eve is coming closer, isn't it?"

"And the feast of dragons is just the best time of year, right, Flame?" Rikki added in eagerly, also jumping up and down.

Flame stammered, "Uh..."

"The feast of dragons, Christmas Eve, is just the best time of year, isn't it?" Ruby chirped happily, scurrying back to the other side of the room with Rikki by her side.

Flame was unsure whether to tell the other dragons that the feast is cancelled. He turned to Spyro, "Uh, are you going to tell them or should I?"

At that moment, Flarea walked into the room, nearly covered in snow from her crash-landing outside. As she stood beside Coltrane, the young phoenix shook off the snow her body and accidentally spreaded it on the young Magic Crafter.

Coltrane grunted, "Steady on, Flarea, no need to bring the outdoors indoors."

Flarea glared at the young Magic Crafter, "Fine! You go deliver invitations then!" She walked over to Spyro, Flame, and Ember, "Invited neighbors to feast! The fairies coming, hedgehogs coming..." The young phoenix then noticed the melancholy faces on the dragons, "What wrong with your face? Flarea did something wrong?"

"No, you did well, Flarea," Flame replied reassuringly, "but we don't have enough food. We may have to cancel the feast."

Spyro was looking over to Rikki, Ruby, and Ami playing about. He saw how happy they were; eager to spend Christmas Eve not only with other dragons but with the local friendly creatures as well.

Not wanting their happiness and joy shattered, the purple dragon shook his head and said to the group, "No, no. We can't let the others down, nor the temple. We'll bring back food for everyone."

Outside of the temple, a snowflake pratically drifted down from the sky and landed directly on Coltrane's snout. The young Magic Crafter stared at the snowflake for a moment before it melted away into the nothingness. Suddenly, more snowflakes began to fall as snowy weather was approaching, just as Spyro, along with Flame, Grayson, Coltrane, and Ami was ready to head out into the hillside to gather more food and Cynder knew something was up as she stood outside with her companions.

"Looks like it's going to get worse before it gets better." Cynder spoke out, noticing the harsh weather coming.

Spyro reassured her as he nuzzled the black dragoness, "We'll be back soon, I promise."

"The weather's the least of our worries." Flame stated, before looking over at the snowy hillside, "At this time of year, the predators go hungry too..."

A cold howl from a canine-like creature erupted from somewhere in the distant hillside, echoing around the dragons as they shuddered slightly from the thought of enemies looking about for food to survive in the winter.

However, Spyro wasn't slightly fazed. "Right, let's go." He announced, before he turned around and began running down the hill, flanked closely by Flame, Coltrane, Grayson, and Ami, towards the unknown in their mission to bring back more food. Flarea took to the skies to help the dragons make their way through the snow from the air.

Daisy looked to Cynder solemnly, as the other dragons hurried back inside, "It's a hard cold night to be away from home."

Cynder didn't look down to Daisy to respond. She only stood silently, watching her friends embark on their journey and prayed that they will be safe...
This story is related to my other Spyro story: The Forgotten Realms.

Disclaimer: I do not own Spyro and other characters from the Spyro the Dragon and the Legend of Spyro series. Some of the young dragons that are in the story are grown-up, but are baby dragons from the Year of the Dragon game.

Wow, i really liked this story... It's really good... But some of these characters, I don't really remember... Like Greyson... I don't entirely know The Legend of Spyro... I just skimmed through the series... But good story though! Really!

Oh okay... Still, The Legend of Spyro seemed like an interesting video game series... Wish I noticed it when I was younger though. Oh well. You made some pretty neat Spyro stuff. :)
