Species - Teasels v2 by sapphire3690 Species - Teasels v2 by sapphire3690
An updated submission on my Teasel species, merged two of my previous submissions of them into one species sheet. Open species suggestion for :iconfloraverse:

Common elements: Teasels are commonly under the Water, Earth, Spirit, and Air element, though some have no affinity.
:bulletblue: Teasel/Flowercat hybrids are commonly seen in the Earth, Air and Water element.
:bulletblue: Teasel/Foxbat hybrids are associated with all the other elements with the exception of the Spirit element.

Diet: Teasels prefer meat, fish, eggs, and fruit.

Height: 5-7ft. when standing on hind legs.

Hereditary magic: Teasels passed down by an elementary affinity from its parents can wield a variety of magic. For example, if a mix-breed Teasel is the offspring of a Flowercat and its teasel parent, the Teasel offspring will inherit the magic elemental traits from either its Flowercat parent or Teasel parent.

Elemental weaknesses/resistances:
:bulletblue: Teasels in general are immune to the hypnotic glares of the Cockatrice, whom they don't see eye-to-eye with.
:bulletblue: Foxbat/Teasel offspring are sometimes partially blind, so they rely on their other senses to make up for their missing sight.
:bulletblue: If a Flowercat/Teasel hybrid is situated in the wrong area for its head flower, the flower itself will wilt, causing the offspring to fall ill.

Common locations: Teasels are commonly found nearly everywhere with the exception of hot, arid areas.

Climate preference: Teasels can adapt to most areas, including cities and beaches to their liking. However certain full-bred Teasels dislike volcanic, arid terrains as their fur would absorb the heat and make them feel uncomfortable, lightheaded and sometimes fall ill if they stayed too long. On rare occasions should they remain in all-around hot areas without proper nourishment, they would slowly fall insane.

Sentience: Feral Teasels live in packs lead by a dominant larger male, a dominant female, or both. Sentient Teasels are the only ones capable of conversing with their wild counterparts, as the ferals still hold a sort of kinship with them.

Language: Teasels speak mostly common and plant language, some of them however speak broken language as well.

:bulletblue: Most Foxbat/Teasels can hold the ability to fly thanks to their wings, while some mix-breeds have short wings that renders them unable to take flight.
:bulletblue: Water Teasels were documented gathering seashells that catch their interest (they're very picky), and they use those shells to help perform water-elemental magic until they learn to do it themselves or remain using the seashells.
:bulletblue::bulletblue: This affinity of Teasel all possess webbed feet, which they use to swim through water and climb on muddy surfaces.

Hi I hope you don't mind but I drew a hybrid Teasel with my own species on my species sheet! I thought they'd be an interesting aquatic mix and I think it looks okay, although it was the last one I drew and I was running out of space so it's a bit small :( It's at the very bottom! Hope you're okay with it :D…

Aw, it's adorable! :D
Be sure to credit me on the Teasel species. Users may ask what a Teasel is and all. :3

Will do :D Teasel hybrids are super fun to invent and draw! I cross bred that one with another Shelkie and ended up with a really weird looking creature. But its soooo fun to do!

You're the first user to use a Teasel character, a hybrid one at that too! X3

Well, I kinda felt that to make my species "legitimate", as it were, and not just a fan species, I had to make lots of hybrids to show what it'd be like once they were well integrated. And what's more integrated than other new species! After that it was just finding the right ones; some are too hard to hybridize and some don't allow it. I saw teasels and I was like "this. This is it. This is the mammalian cross breeding partner FOR SURE" although combining a beak with a weasel snout is pretty tough :/

The 1/4 Teasel hybrid is here, though it's not finished. I combined my large water one with the hybrid just to see how it'd look; since it's mostly Shelkie the Teasel in it is subtle but it's definitely there I think. And it looks kinda cute.
